Mike Carroll and Rick Howard were convinced that they can lift off from the existing market by setting up a Skater-Label with their own ideas - Lakai! There is a lot pride, energy and motivation behind the Lakai products that the founders have invested in. And after the great success that Lakai has now reached around the globe, the effort and the risk Carroll and Howard went into has paid off - but this they owed to all the skateboarders- take the risk once and then with Lakai, develop the ultimate skateboards and bring them to the market. A similar fate befell the two, in 1999 as a limited edition collection of footwear Lakai was to be launched. With the same dedication and passion the shoes from Lakai were made and were in no way to be thought of as not being an integral part of the skater scene.
